Age limits
Age limits
The age limit has been introduced to ensure safety on our trips, whether it is summer or winter. We ride through mountains, bogs and primeval forests, and some sections can be demanding. Our many years of experience with guided horse riding tours have given us valuable insight.
On this tour it is not necessary to be an experienced rider, but the ability to follow instructions, pay attention and have sufficient willpower to avoid obstacles such as trees is required.
The ability to trot and gallop in a riding hall or arena cannot be compared to navigating the wilderness itself. The tour is designed so that everyone has to handle their own horses. If one becomes anxious, the retreat can be difficult because of the rest of the party. We recognize that the age limit of 10 years in summer and 12 in winter may seem unfair to those born late in the year. We are open to exceptions if the parents believe that the child is strong enough to handle the challenges, especially for those born late in the year.
We encourage parents to be honest about their child's age, as the age limit is set with the child's safety in mind. The ride in the wilderness involves certain risks, and it is important that the child is aware of the challenges, including steep uphill and downhill slopes, streams, and narrow woods. If you think your child is tough enough for this trip and will soon turn 10 in summer or 12 in winter, you are welcome. If the child does not feel comfortable going on the ride, you must return with the child, as we do not have the capacity to look after them during the trip. Please note that no money will be refunded, as the return process is resource-intensive. The child should be robust and a little brave to enjoy the ride in the wilderness.
